The Save the Earth Club is proud to once again lead our Legacy Project: Earth Hour, a global movement that unites millions of people across the world in a simple but powerful act of environmental solidarity.

This year’s Earth Hour is especially meaningful, as it marks the 20th anniversary of Earth Hour worldwide.

📅 Date: Saturday, March 28, 2026 ⏰ Time: 8:30–9:30 p.m. (your local time)

💡 What Is Earth Hour?

Earth Hour began in 2007 as a symbolic lights-out event to raise awareness about climate change. Over the past two decades, it has grown into the largest grassroots environmental movement in the world, with individuals, universities, cities, and landmarks across more than 190 countries participating each year.

During Earth Hour, participants are encouraged to turn off non-essential lights and electronics for one hour—not as a sacrifice, but as a statement. It is a collective reminder that small, intentional actions, when taken together, can create meaningful global impact.

🌱 Why Earth Hour Matters

Earth Hour is about more than darkness; it’s about hope, responsibility, and action. It reminds us that environmental stewardship begins with awareness and continues through everyday choices. Whether it’s reducing energy consumption, advocating for sustainability, or inspiring others to care for our planet, Earth Hour serves as a catalyst for long-term change.

As a club dedicated to environmental education, conservation, and action, Earth Hour remains one of the cornerstones of our mission and our most enduring Legacy Project.

🤝 How You Can Get Involved

Participating is easy and everyone can take part:

  • Turn off lights and unplug non-essential electronics from 8:30–9:30 p.m.

  • Spend the hour reflecting, reading, journaling, stargazing, or enjoying time without screens.

  • Share your participation on social media and encourage others to join.

  • Invite classmates, colleagues, friends, and family to participate with you.

  • Help spread the word across the entire University community and beyond.

Whether you’re participating alone or organizing a group effort, your involvement matters.

🌎 A Global Moment—A Shared Responsibility

Earth Hour reminds us that environmental challenges do not recognize borders and neither does collective action. As we celebrate 20 years of Earth Hour, we invite our university community to stand together with millions of people around the globe in support of a healthier, more sustainable planet.

Join the Save the Earth Club as we continue our Legacy Project and show that even one hour can make a lasting difference.

💚 Together, we can be the change—one light at a time.
